NMS
Wavion’s network management system (NMS) is a comprehensive, carrier-grade tool enabling operators to effectively control and monitor their Wi-Fi network. The NMS provides support for all network operation aspects and allow network managers to carry out day to day activities as well as plan network expansion.
Key Features- Network element discovery and mapping of Wavion’s base station equipment and certified 3rd party equipment
- Configuration and management of multiple devices
- Fault and alarm management including an extensive suite of notification tools
- Performance management at different levels; single elements, clusters and across the network provide operators with instantaneous visibility regarding the network health
- Security tools for assigning access to network management functions
- Interfaces to high-end management solutions such as Tivoly, HP’s OSS etc.
- client server architecture and web based clients offer remote access to network managers simultaneously
Network management:
Wavion NMS is based on intuitive graphic representation of the network. Following an automatic discovery process, through which Wavion equipment and 3rd party certified equipment is added to the NMS database, 3 types of reports are available for managing the network:
- Explorer topology tree, aggregating information on clusters of devices and providing a top down view of the network.
- Graphical topology map allows automatic placement of any managed element on geographical map based on stored information.
- Logical topology shows visual representation of the links, interdependencies, and relationships between network devices.
Fault and alarm management:
Wavion NMS provides a central alarm manager, which provides information on network health, and pinpoints potential problems in the network. The alarm manager aggregates all alarms and events in the network. It generates alarms pre defined and user configurable alarms sends acknowledgments and forwarding alarm both through email and the SNMP interface.
Events and alarms can be conveniently viewed based on various user defined filters, which determine the time, severity, status etc.
Performance monitoring
Wavion NMS platform stores performance information from various network elements. This information can be later displayed in graphical views, and provides valuable information about network health, usage levels, radio performance history and interferences. The historical information can be displayed at a range of levels such as clusters devices and even device interfaces (i.e. wireless, wire line interfaces, and also VLAN ID and SSID sub interfaces).
Using the performance monitoring tool, network operator can supervise network health, debug the network and resolve for potential issues in affecting quality service.
The performance monitoring provide tool also allows network operator to measure the actual capacity of the network, clusters and base stations, vs. the actual usage over time. Using this information, the operator can plan network expansion efficiently and guarantee customer satisfaction.
Security:
Wavion NMS provides different levels authorization base on user access profiles. These profiles control the read and write permissions, as well as action authorization granted to each profile. The user profiles control which part of the network is viewable to them and which zones are hidden. This type of security flexibility is extremely useful for wholesale network, where the network owner would like to grant access to view part of his network to different ISPs. Each ISP is limited to their specific area of the network.
Wavion NMS maintains a full audit trail, where action, date time and user information are stored in a history log. This allows managers to fully monitor the activity on their network.
